I am a candidate for the Democratic nomination in Colorado House District 6.

I am a law professor and neighborhood organizer; I am a lifelong Democrat and a family man.

My Legislative Experience:

My work has included evidence-based expert testimony and advice to legislators.

My Education:

I went to public K-12 schools in Pittsburgh, attended Northwestern University, and earned a Ph.D. in History and a Law Degree from Stanford University.
My outlook ranges from broad historical policy analysis to detailed, technical knowledge of legislation and the law. I taught for ten years at The University of Texas School of Law before joining the University of Denver as a full professor.

My Community Service:

I am an energetic, involved community advocate, problem solver, and volunteer.
I am a neighborhood leader and advocate for my community. I work on issues of crime, safety, development, and voting. I volunteer with the Girl Scouts, schools, and athletic teams.

My Family:

My wife Andrea and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in May. We live in the Lowry neighborhood with our two children, a 10-year-old daughter in 4th grade and a 13-year-old son who hopes to enroll in George Washington High School's IB program next fall.

Tradition Of Smart Leadership:

Speaker of the House Andrew Romanoff has done a great job representing District 6. Andrew was a student of mine at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He is term-limited and will leave the legislature after the next session. I will continue, as Andrew has, the tradition of smart, effective leadership for Colorado's House District 6.
